Having finished the lovely winter box - I decided to start on another Victoria Sampler project - the 15 sided biscorno .. first I got a large piece of evenweave and then divided it into 3 lines of 5 squares by pulling out a thread - this divided the fabric up into the 15 squares needed for the biscorno ... I decided against doing the flower in ribbon embroidery and instead used perle number 5 for both the flower and leaves - under that is the flame or bargello stitch ... using gold metallic for first line, perle white 12# for second line, followed by a further two lines using Gloriana threads - lovely hand dyed silks !
Decided to sort out some stash which I no longer really want .... there are some full kits, some booklets and some charts - anyone wanting to have a look please visit my 'Trade' album in my webshots and if you are interested then e-mail me off list ...
Well as I can't move about much at the moment - I decided to try and finish of the Vic Sampler Winter Box .... not as easy as it looks !! I just have the scissor fob and pin cushion to make up now ....
Although the lid fabric looks white, it is in fact raw Belfast linen - just didn't come out quite right colour with phone camera !
After having twisted the wrong way on Saturday - I now have a very painfull back - just a worsening of the everyday bad back and will probably be back to 'normal' in a couple of days .... in the meantime it means having to use sticks indoors and take it easy along with plenty of painkillers .... ...... however I have been able to do a llittle more work on the Victoria Sampler 'Winter Box'
I have the sides all ready to put together tomorrow !!
I have finished the box lid completely now - thank goodness - that's the last of the one over one stitching !! So hope to attempt putting the box together over the weekend
After finishing the box lid top- I then had the four box lid sides to do - not too keen as they are stitched one over one and my old eyes can't take that anymore lol .... but decided to do them slowly, and I managed to do one side today - one down - three to go !
I have been getting quite addicted to beads and decided to do something else with them apart from just using in cross stitch.... so I decided to have a go at jewellery making .... not very good yet, but here are a few of the things I tried out for friends and family ...
This is a silver and turquoise bracelet for a friend
This is a set of necklace, bracelet and ear-rings made for myself with real coral beads and sterling silver bits!
This was made for my DIL with real turquioise beads, glass beads and sterling silver beads
Well this is the result of a few days stitching - started on the first day of the New Year - I have now finished the top of the box lid - a beautiful design from Thea Deuck of Victoria Sampler .... it has been stitched on 28 count raw cashel linen and I have used a Gloriana hand dyed thread together with Needlepoint silks ....
To all bloggers out there - a happy new year one and all .... I have started the year with a new project - the beautiful Winter Box by Victoria Sampler and managed the first stitches this morning - yep ! up early lol
